Things to Consider

Consider the following in association with louvered washroom partitions:

  • Slats longer than 28” are not recommended without a mid-stile.
  • Value engineering options include: Veneer doors with laminate panels and pilasters.
  • Custom door configurations are available.
  • Hardware available in chrome, brushed stainless, and powder coat.
  • Louvered doors may not be suitable for extreme, high traffic areas.
  • Variances between wood and laminate finishes are expected.
  • On site repairs to wood finish are difficult.
  • Slats may require additional cleaning care.
  • Many cleaning solutions are not appropriate for real wood and real wood veneers.
  • Only phenolic louvered doors are appropriate for wet areas.

If you have questions about any of these considerations, or have other concerns, please contact us.

Wood Species and Finishes

Our louvered doors are available in wood veneer, phenolic, and laminate. The material can be stained, painted, and finished in a variety of ways. Please follow the links below to explore options in these areas:

Panel and Pilaster Materials

The panels and pilasters of a partition with louvered doors can be built from any of our available materials, including Stone and Solid Surface.

To consider other possibilities, please go to our Materials page.

Hardware

Our standard louvered door systems use chrome plated Zamac hardware. Other hardware options include:

  • Powder coating to a desired color and finish.
  • Wood veneer anti-grip head rail.
  • Polished brass finish.
  • Custom door pulls.
  • Cast stainless steel.

To explore other possibilities, please go to our hardware page.

Louver

Design Details

Louvered door slats are wide, Plantation style slats, nominally 2.25” wide. Standard door stiles are nominally 5.25" wide. Top rails are nominally 5.25" high and bottom rails are nominally 7" high. Custom stile and rail dimensions, as well as an additional mid rail, can also be specified by contacting us.

Louvered partitions can be configured as headrail braced, floor to ceiling, floor mounted, or ceiling hung partitions. They are available in Children's, Standard, European, and Custom sizes. Additionally, louvered doors can be accented with molding, engraving, or inlay on the door frame. See the links below for more information about style and sizing options.

Materials

Louvered doors are available in wood veneer, phenolic, and laminate. Phenolic louvered doors are a great choice for high-humidity environments.

Some of the wood species options can be found by following the links below. Flat cut cherry, maple, and walnut are popular choices, but almost any commercially available wood veneers can be selected. For additional information about wood species, please contact us.

Finishes

Louvered partitions can be stained, painted, clear coated, or left unfinished. Leaving the door and panels unfinished allows for completion at the site, which can make it easier to match the finish of other components in a room. Clear coating can allow the natural beauty of a wood or wood veneer to stand out, but it can also highlight imperfections that may be present in natural woods. Stains and paint colors can be selected from the links below, or custom finishes can be specified by contacting us.

Construction

Our louvered doors are built using stile and rail construction. The louvers attach to the stiles in a fixed and slightly open position with sufficient overlap to guarantee privacy.
