Design Details

Engravings can be added to the front or back of doors, pilasters, and panels. This accent can enhance a design, repeat a thematic element, convey a message, display a logo, advertise, and more.

Engraving depth varies with the finish materials. As an example, a wood veneer with a nominal thickness of 0.125” would typically be engraved to a depth of 0.063", while a plastic laminate, which is thinner, would be engraved to a more shallow depth.

Engraved laminates show the color of the core material exposed by the engraving . For plastic laminate, the exposed material is dark brown. For phenolic, the exposed material is black. Solid surface and solid plastic materials are homogeneous in color, so the exposed material is the same color and pattern as the surface material.

Engravings are sealed but not filled, so the engraved area is below the surface of the piece.

Renderings of the image(s) to be engraved should be supplied in DXF or DWG file format. Other formats, such as high-resolution AI, CDR, GIF, or JPEG, are also accepted with an additional charge to cover the conversion cost to DXF or DWG . The amount of this charge depends on the source file format and the level of detail in the engraving(s). Please contact us to determine conversion rates if you cannot provide DXF or DWG versions of your design.

For some materials, simple geometric engravings can be a good alternative to applied molding.

All of our partition materials can be engraved, with the exception of stone.

Engraved accents do not affect style options (such as floor mounted or ceiling hung) or size options.
