Enter a restroom designed with laminate and find contemporary style and affordability.

  • Decorative laminates in solid colors, patterns, and wood grain designs are available from several manufacturers.
  • Not suitable for high moisture areas or installations that require frequent contact with liquids.
  • Components are edged before they are faced, eliminating pick points.
  • Custom laminate is an available option which allows full-custom specification of color, pattern, and image.
  • Investigate laminate options in our Configurator.
Things to

Things to Consider

Consider the following in association with laminates:

  • Laminates are not appropriate in wet areas.
  • Stall and hardware selections should be appropriate for expected use.
  • Material availability may affect lead times.
  • Some layout configurations and styles are incompatible.
  • Job site handling should be minimized.
  • Proper consideration should be given to cleaning requirements.

If you have questions about any of these considerations, or have other concerns, please contact us.

Design Details

Laminate stalls combine value, durability, and a wide range of design options. High Pressure Laminate (HPL), is made from sheets of kraft paper impregnated with phenolic resins, a decorative sheet with the desired color/pattern, and a transparent overlay. These are all heated and compressed, producing a very durable surface. This laminate is applied to 45 pound high density particle board to produce the partition components.

Experience has shown that some restroom partition occupants will, apparently out of boredom, pick at and damage partition surfaces and edges. For this reason, we laminate the edges of the components first and apply the facing last. The resulting doors, partitions, and pilasters do not present a visible edge for picking. This construction detail results in longer-lasting partitions.

Appropriate Environments

Laminates themselves are waterproof, but the edges of laminate partitions are not. Because of this, laminate partitions are not appropriate for locations with high humidity, such as areas with showers in the same room. They are also not suitable for locations that clean the partitions by applying liquids directly to the components, since excess liquids often seep through component corners into the core. Liquids can also run down the face of a component and form droplets at the bottom edge. If these droplets are not wiped away, they can wick into the component core and lead to component failure.

Partitions made with laminate offer myriad of design choices in a very cost-effective product. See our Wilsonart laminate chart for examples of available colors, patterns, and finishes.
